Did you know that shampoos, conditioners, creams
and other toiletries found in most households contain
a damaging combination of chemicals that could affect your child's hormone, immune or nervous system?
Did you also know that a large proportion of beauty/body products contain formaldehyde - a highly toxic substance, a known cancer-causing agent? Not only does it damage the neurological connectors in the body, but it is also an irritant to the eyes, nose, throat and lungs.
A few common chemicals found in your toiletries:
Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (Sulfate) - a synthetic detergent/foaming agent. Baby wipes, bubble baths,
shampoo, toothpaste. Skin, eye and respiratory tract irritant. May damage liver, lungs and immune system.
Propylene Glycol - shampoos, hair conditioners, body lotions and deodorants. Linked to skin complaints
and possible eye damage.
Triclosan - used as an antibacterial, primarily in toothpastes, deodorants, liquid soaps and mouthwashes. Cancer causing dioxins are formed when it is manufactured or incinerated.
Petrochemicals (including mineral oil) - found in baby oil, nappy creams and petroleum jelly. Strips away the natural oils from the skin, forms an oily film - blocking pores, which prohibits the release of toxins. It can also cause photosensitivity, chapping, dryness and premature ageing.
Why would you want to put these chemicals on your body? Can you see the benefit in switching to environmentally-friendly, toxin-free products?
